In District 6, Cindy Fain

Cindy Fain, a small business owner with a first-grader in Hamilton County Schools, is our pick in the Republican primary. She says parents have a role in their children's education by reading to them until they can read back to the parents and by staying involved in the schools.

"We should not put [all the responsibility] on the pre-k or kindergarten teacher," she said.

A year ago, before Fain got in the race, she already was distressed that her daughter in kindergarten was being taught victimology and that gender identity was being discussed on the playground.

"Kids should be kids," she said. At that age, "they should have no worries or more peer pressure."

Fain also is concerned local schools are using a reading program that is "not fun" and "has backfired in making the children not want to read."

She feels school administration should be cut back and the money saved should go for teacher raises, teaching assistants and the deferred maintenance backlog.

Both of her opponents, Delores Gross Vinson and Jon Baker, are bright, well-meaning and concerned citizens who have some thoughts similar to Fain's. Vinson, a former public and private school teacher and a substitute in local schools since her retirement, says her experience gives her the edge. Baker, a 2010 transplant from Florida, calls himself a "doer," an "organizer" and as a retiree has "a lot of free time" to devote to the schools.

2/4

We prefer Fain for the seat that board member Jenny Hill is giving up.

READING TO CHILDREN

Parents need to READ to their children ages 0-5 EVERYDAY. This is how children learn to read. Don’t expect your teacher to teach your child to read. Children that can’t read or don’t like to read, don’t like school. They fall behind in every subject because they can’t read.
Parents please read to your children everyday until they CAN read to you.

Kids Need to Be Kids

Over the past two years children have been the most hurt dealing with the trauma of Covid - 19. It is the main cause of anxiety and stress in our children.

So how have we the PARENTS allowed CRT (Critical Race Theory) to creep in to the curriculum of Hamilton County Schools? It is a LIE if you are told it is NOT in our Schools. I know first hand. How did I discover this? Well like most parents that "woke up" and was juggling work and virtual learning with their children last year, we got a clear picture of what was being slung at our children. My youngest daughter was in Kindergarten last year and was given a packet to read with a parent and then questions at the end to discuss the child's feelings. This reading project was about a little black girl that was fatherless, lived with her Mom. grandparents, aunt and cousins. Because she was brown/black she would always be a "victim" and would always have struggles that white children do not have......... Oh, I was livid.

My youngest daughter is bi-racial. She will not "play" victim because of her skin color. She will not be a VICTIM. She will do well in life and will succeed because she can be whatever she wants to be. Why are we dividing, creating life-long victims and most of all hatred between our children and young adults? Why are we going backwards instead of forward? Why are we burdening our Children? Again, why are we BURDENING our Children? Why are we trying to make our children feel sorry for someone because of their skin color? Their hair color? Why are we making everything about RACE?

Not only is CRT introduced in our elementary schools, children are being BURDENED with "Gender Identity". Yes.....as young as four years old our schools have added another cement block to our children's shoulders. The thing to do on the playground is to ask another schoolmate if they are a boy or a girl.  And let's not forget to add another cement block....Sex Education. As early as Kindergarten. Why? What is the need for this to be in our public education? Seriously, what is the purpose?

Why can't Kids just be Kids? They need to learn and be taught the simple things in life, they need family, they need community, they need to love the country they live in.....and MOST of all they need to laugh and PLAY!

So this is ONE of many reasons I am running for school board.

More to come, please stay tuned.

Thank you,

Cindy Fain
